DigiExam and GDPR
The new EU General Data Protection Regulation will have an impact on you as a DigiExam user, but you can continue using DigiExam as usual. It will affect all countries within the EU and will be an addition to previous regulations such as Privacy Shield & FERPA.
DigiExam has always been developed to protect privacy and security for our users in the way we gather and use personal information. The transition to the new regulations are in place.
GDPR applies to all who processes personal data and we have Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) with all our customers. DigiExam function as a service provider processing the data on behalf of your school or organization.
How are teachers affected in DigiExam?
““It sets higher standards for on us as a service provider and GDPR applies to all users within the EU as opposed to a single country, but as a teacher you won’t be forced to change the way you use DigiExam today. Privacy Shield and FERPA is still in effect.”“
We asked a couple of questions to our CTO Robin Andersson who now also acts as the Data Protection Officer (DPO)
- Which effects will GDPR have for teachers and students using DigiExam today?
With GDPR, you as a user have reinforced rights to export personal data and have any stored data removed when you stop using the service.”
- Which is the biggest difference between the previous regulations like Privacy Shield & FERPA in regards to the new regulation?
“It sets higher standards for on us as a service provider and GDPR applies to all users within the EU as opposed to a single country, but as a teacher you won’t be forced to change the way you use DigiExam today. Privacy Shield and FERPA is still in effect.”
