FAQ

What is virtual proctoring?

Virtual proctoring, or online proctoring, is a method of monitoring and verifying the identity of exam takers during a virtual or online exam. It involves using specialized software or technology to remotely monitor and supervise the exam-taking process to ensure that it is fair and secure.

The Digiexam platform includes virtual proctoring services to help maintain academic integrity during remote exams.

How do virtual proctored exams work?

  1. Registration: The exam taker registers for the exam and receives instructions on how to access the exam platform and what is required to take the exam, such as a webcam, microphone, or specific browser requirements.
  2. Authentication: The exam taker is required to provide identity verification, which may include providing government-issued identification, a photo, and biometric verification, such as facial recognition.
  3. Exam setup: Once authenticated, the exam taker accesses the exam platform and sets up their exam environment, including a clear workspace and testing equipment, and enables the proctoring software to monitor their activity.
  4. Monitoring: During the exam, the proctoring software and/or a proctor monitors the exam taker's activity in real-time. The proctoring software use advanced technologies to detect any suspicious activity or behavior, such as looking away from the screen, using external devices or resources, or communicating with others.
  5. Review: After the exam is completed, the proctoring software generates a report that the exam administrator can review to ensure the exam's integrity and fairness.

Can online proctors see your screen?

Yes, online proctors may be able to see a test-taker's screen during a virtual proctored exam to prevent cheating.

Digiexam's proctoring services use screen sharing technology to allow proctors to monitor the test-taker's screen and ensure academic integrity.

Is someone watching you during a proctored exam?

If there is a human proctor present, yes. A proctor may be watching both the screen and webcam feed of a test-taker during a proctored exam to ensure academic integrity.
